One of Pontypridd’s all-time greats during his playing days, Gareth Wyatt scored 112 tries in his 293 appearances between 1995 and 2014.
When Gareth eventually called time on a glittering playing career at the end of the 2013 – 2014 campaign, he stepped up to the role as assistant backs coach having already been player-coach at the club from 2012 onwards.
He was part of Ponty’s coaching set-up until 2018 before departing to take up a position as backs coach with the Wales Women senior squad, a role which he had already fulfilled on a temporary basis during the 2018 Six Nations campaign.
Wyatt returned to Pontypridd RFC in October 2022, initially replacing Paul Matthews as The Club’s backs coach. Then during a restructure in January 2023, Gareth was promoted to the role of Joint-Head Coach of Pontypridd RFC with Lee Davies.
