Captain’s End Of Season Blog

This probably has to be the first season of rugby where we have actually finished our schedule on time. The season has been a rollercoaster to say the least, highs, lows, twist and turns, we’ve had it all. Despite not having the season we wanted, the pride I get from pulling on that historical jersey and leading out this squad never differs.

Each blog that I have written seems to follow the same process, however it has been nice to sit back and reflect on finishing the season on a positive note with an away win against RGC. The support on the final weekend was immense and made it feel like a home game. It was great to come off that field to our army of fans and celebrate with them, before us boys let our hair down in Liverpool, I’m getting too old for the hangovers.

We may not have had the success we were aiming for this year, but this squad is probably the most talented I’ve been apart of. We’ve had our fair share of injuries and decisions which may have gone against us, but the fight and determination everyone has shown for the jersey, is something I cannot falter.

As we step in to the unknown of what next season looks like, I think it would be silly for us to think some of our talented, young squad won’t be targeted by teams in the EDC. I just want to take the time and thank those boys who may leave for their time and effort this season, and whatever they do, they will have the full support of Pontypridd RFC. There will always be a place for you back at Sardis Road ‘when’ you come back!

Next year will look a bit different from a personal point of view having stepped up with Dico and Garyn to take more of a coaching role, and alongside Stuart Rix as Team Manager, we couldn’t of asked for a better end of season run of results. As a coaching group we are looking forward to working together more and already identifying new talent that will entertain Sardis Road for the foreseeable future, and hopefully these results can continue and bring success back to Ponty!

As a squad we want to say thank you to you all once again for your continued support throughout the season, you really are the best in the world!!

Another huge thank you must go out to our partners and family members who put up with so much throughout the season and are always there supporting.

As the season has ended it will be great to celebrate as a group at the end of year awards with all of our family, friends and supporters, to say thank you. See you all there!

I have no doubt that next year will be positive and successful and we will have the terrace bouncing yet again. See you all soon.

Ole!
