Matchday Preview – Pontypridd v Llanelli

This Saturday 29th October Pontypridd welcome Llanelli to Sardis Road in the Indigo Group Premiership, the match kicks off at 2:30pm.

It will be a return to action for Ponty for the first time in more than two weeks following our ‘fallow’ week in the Welsh Cup on the weekend. Touching on that competition briefly, last Saturday Aberavon enjoyed a big win away at Bridgend which means Ponty lie 3 points behind the Wizards in Group B. Pontypridd will need to win away at the Talbot Athletic Ground and deny Avon any match points to progress through as winners in Group B of the Welsh Cup in early December.

But back to league matters and another big match this Saturday against Llanelli. Last season the two clubs met only once during the shortened league campaign on Saturday 2nd April 2021 at Sardis Road – Ponty earned a hard-fought 19-13 win thanks to a Sion Parry try.

Ponty and Llanelli’s last meeting before the Covid-19 pandemic was again at Sardis Road, tries from Alex Webber and Joel Raikes plus 16 points from the boot of Diggy Bird saw the home side take the spoils 26-15 on Saturday 21st December 2019.

There’s going to be lots going on in and around Sardis Road and following on from last season’s success, we are delighted to announce that this Saturday is one of the club’s designated Ponty RFC Mini & Junior day(s). The Mini & Junior’s schedule includes all the age groups parading around the pitch before Ponty and Llanelli kick-off. The U11’s will be providing the Guard of Honour, the U8’s will be playing against Pontyclun RFC at half-time and the U14’s will be playing a match against Tonyrefail RFC after the seniors’ match.

Tickets – Admission on the day will be £12 full, £10 concession access-all-areas and under 16’s free if accompanied by a paying adult. You can purchase tickets on the day or to save time can use our new online e-Ticket system, link – e-Tickets

Supporter access is via the clubhouse end of the ground only as the Pwllgwaun end remains closed.
