Dico moves into the Top 10

When Pontypridd ran out onto the Newport Stadium turf last Thursday evening it triggered a significant landmark for second-row Chris Dicomidis. It was Chris’ 369th appearance in a Ponty shirt and it moved him into the top 10 on the Ponty RFC all-time list, tied with another club legend Phil John.

Already a bona fide club legend, on reaching the milestone Chris said: “I’m obviously proud to be in top 10. It’s a shame covid struck as potentially I would’ve been over the 400 mark. Although results are not going in our favour at the moment I’m enjoying my rugby with a new squad of young talented players. I’ve a milestone in mind that I want to get to before I hang the boots up, as long as my body holds up and the coaches still want me around.”

The Top 10 as it currently stands –

1. Bob Penberthy – 877

2. Dale McIntosh – 449

3. Graham Gittens – 444

4. Jock Watkins – 435

5. Tommy David – 404

6. Arfon Jones – 400

7. Russell Jones – 383

8. Dafydd Lockyer – 381

9. Steele Lewis – 375

10. Phil John and Chris Dicomidis – 369
