29.6.2007 Keeping the green green grass of Sardis cleaner together
Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has joined forces with Pontypridd RFC to promote environmental issues.
The Council will have promotional banners around the ground next season, promoting recycling and home composting, raising smoking ban awareness, fines for littering, and a hard-hitting banner on dog fouling.
As part of the partnership, players from the club will attend events held by the council aimed at raising the public's awareness of environmental issues. Commenting on the partnership Pontypridd RFC Sales and Marketing Executive Gareth Howells said:
We are delighted to be working with RCT Environmental services in another new and exciting partnership, helping raise awareness of how important it is to recycle our rubbish, and for all adults and children to become recyclers.
As you can imagine, a lot of rubbish is left after one game of rugby so now the team and club are looking to re-use the rubbish through recycling. The partnership will see the senior side have the Rhyscycle logo displayed on their shorts, and the youth side will display the Rhyscycle logo on their sleeve. There will also be various advertising signs around the ground.
The target group for the campaign is young children, making them aware of how important it is to recycle waste. Pontypridd players will be visiting children in schools, helping to promote recycling along with the recycling mascot Rhys.
Parti Ponty
We will also be joining the Recycling team at "Parti
Ponty" on July 7th from 11am until 6pm at
Ynysangharad Park, and on the day players from
Pontypridd RFC will be present to sign photographs and hand out
posters and information on recycling. It will also be an
opportunity to purchase some Pontypridd RFC merchandise in
readiness for the new season.
