Local boy Tom Riley, hailing from the Graig area of Pontypridd, first broke into the club’s senior squad in 2003, having previously played at outside half but soon making a name for himself as a creative centre.
Capped by Wales at Youth, under 19 and under 21 level, Tom Riley was drafted to the regional ranks of the Blues, making a senior debut in 2006. Two years later a move ensued to the Dragons, also appearing for Newport RFC in the Premiership.
With further international honours coming his way in the sevens code, and a call up to represent the Barbarians, Tom Riley signed up for English Championship side Cornish Pirates in 2012, nominated as their Player of the Year in his first season.
A return to Wales in 2016 saw Riley once more in Newport colours before moving to double champions Merthyr for one season. In the summer of 2018 Tom Riley’s rugby career turned full circle with a return to his hometown club Pontypridd.
Tom Riley is employed as an apprentice electrician.
