One of the recent greats of British rugby dropped in to watch the Ponty under 9s in action last Sunday, 19th March. Former Munster, Ireland and British Lions international centre Mike Mullins was on the sidelines to watch the under 9s in action in their away match at Pontyclun.
Mike is friendly with Lawson Jones, brother of Ponty mini rugby coach Byron Jones, and was over in Wales for the final round of the Six Nations tournament. The reputation of the under 9s must have travelled far and wide, as Mike Mullins was keen to come and watch them play, and was more than happy to pose for photos with the boys, and to engage in a kick and pass about with some of the players.
The word from within the Ponty camp is that Mullins was very impressed with the minis' style of play, and picked up a few tips for future reference. You're never too old to learn, and never too young to impress!
