Hailing from the West Wales town of Carmarthen, Wayne represented St Clears and Narberth at junior level, before returning to Carmarthen Quins to play for their youth team. Catching the eye as a dynamic operator behind the pack, Wayne gained representative honours with Crawshays Youth, and went on to be capped by Wales at under 18 level.
A call up followed to the Scarlets Academy in 2001, and still at only nineteen years of age, turning out for the Carmarthen Quins senior XV. Making a mark in the premier division, and having gained further international honours with Wales under 21s, Wayne Evans was signed up by the Blues region in the summer of 2005, and was linked to Pontypridd, making a highly impressive club debut in the victory over premiership champions Neath at Sardis Road.
During the 2005 - 2006 season Wayne made a big impact as an all action, try scoring scrum half, contributing hugely to a successful season for Pontypridd, before moving on to achieve a full senior contract with the Blues.
More recently, Wayne is to be found playing for the Dragons in the Gwent region.
