Swansea v Pontypridd – Matchday Preview

This Saturday 9th March Pontypridd travel to play Swansea at St. Helen’s, the Indigo Group Premiership match kicks off at 2:30pm.

Last season it was the All Whites that triumphed when the two clubs met at St. Helen’s on Saturday 1st October 2022. After an hour’s play the scores were locked at 17-all before a fifteen-minute onslaught from the home side saw them claim a bonus point win by 45 points to 22. Ponty did come away with a four-try bonus point of their own thanks to tries from Aled Ward, Rory Harries, Niko Matawalu and a penalty-try.

Ponty and Swansea met earlier this season on Saturday 11th November at Sardis Road and tries from Ben Burnell, Dale Stuckey, Joseph Scrivens and McCauley Rowley saw the Valley Commandos earn a bonus-point win by 35 points to 18.

Both clubs lost their matches last week albeit in two different competitions. Ponty suffered defeat at home against Newport last Thursday in the league whilst Swansea were defeated 23-17 in the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup by Merthyr at the Brewery Field.

This Saturday’s match heralds a new era under new interim Head Coach Chris Dicomidis and the team needs the support of the fanatical Ponty faithful more than ever – be our 16th Valley Commando once again Ponty Fans!
