PONTY PITCH GOOD TO GO

The newly relayed 3G surface at Sardis Road has been tried, tested, and passed fit to play.

Extensive testing was carried out on the new pitch by officials from World Rugby on Wednesday 23d August. The results have now been processed and the pitch certified fit for use until another re-test is due in the summer of 2019.

A new 3G carpet was laid at Sardis Road following controversy over the previous surface which had been laid at the beginning of last season.

Pontypridd will now play Bedwas on their home patch this coming Saturday 26th August as a new Premiership campaign gets underway.

Welcoming the certification of the pitch, Ponty Rugby director Jack Bayliss commented:

“We’re all ready to go on the new pitch, which is excellent news for everyone concerned with our club.

“Its been a long and difficult journey to overcome the difficulties thrown in our way, but thankfully that episode is now over and done with. We can move on, and look forward to an exciting new season, focussing on what we do best at Ponty – playing rugby.”
