McCauley Rowley signs for Pontypridd

Pontypridd RFC are very pleased to announce the signing of McCauley Rowley from Ystrad Rhondda RFC. The 21 year old centre played a starring role for Ystrad during their 2022/23 campaign.

McCauley helped his side to a 4th placed finish in Welsh Championship and was a runner-up in the Championship Cup Final at the Principality Stadium – after a stoic team performance Ystrad lost out to League Champions Pontypool in the showpiece final. He did get his hands on some silverware in his last match for his old club just two nights ago when Ystrad defeated Brecon by 30 points to 13 in the Mid-District Cup Final at Sardis Road. McCauley has also previously represented Cardiff Blues U16’s and U18’s at regional Age Grade level.

On signing for Ponty, McCauley said: “I’m excited for a new challenge at such an experienced club. I’m looking forward to getting into training with the boys and seeing what the season brings.”

Ponty Joint Head Coach Gareth Wyatt said: “We are delighted to welcome McCauley to Pontypridd and look forward to seeing him pull on the jersey in the 2023/24 season. McCauley is a young centre of real quality who has come through the ranks of Rhondda Schools, Coleg y Cymoedd and Ystrad Rhondda where he’s been earning his stripes in the senior game with distinction, playing a big part in their success. His defensive qualities and balanced running will bring real quality to our squad making him an excellent young addition to Pontypridd RFC.”

Welcome to Pontypridd, McCauley!
