Matchday Preview – Pontypridd v Swansea

This Saturday 6th May the curtain falls on the 2022/23 season for Pontypridd RFC when we welcome Swansea to Sardis Road, the last Indigo Group Premiership match of the campaign kicks off at 2:30pm.

The match was originally scheduled for Saturday 21st January but fell foul to the snow and freezing weather conditions that swept across South Wales that particular weekend.

The two clubs met earlier in the season on Saturday 1st October at St. Helen’s. After an hour’s play the scores were locked at 17-all before a fifteen-minute blitz from the home side saw them claim a bonus point win by 45 points to 22. Ponty did come away with a four-try bonus point of their own thanks to tries from Aled Ward, Rory Harries, Niko Matawalu and a penalty-try.

The last time the All Whites visited Sardis Road was more than four years ago on Friday evening 15th February 2019. Tries from Alex Knott, Alex Webber, two penalty-tries and points from the boots of both Diggy Bird and Ben Jones saw Ponty triumph by a score-line of 31-19.

This Saturday gives both clubs an opportunity to finish the season on a high before resting up ready to go again in a couple of months.
