Matchday Preview – Pontypridd v Carmarthen Quins

Pontypridd play their first game at home for six weeks this Saturday 18th February as we welcome Carmarthen Quins to Sardis Road. The Indigo Group Premiership match kicks off at 2:30pm.

The two sides met earlier in the season at Carmarthen Park on Thursday evening 13th October 2022 in front of the S4C cameras. Ponty came out on top of a closely-fought contest by 21 points to 15, Dale Stuckey and Jordan Howells got the tries and Joseph Scrivens kicked 11 points to secure the Valley Commandos’ first away win of the league campaign.

Last season the two sides only met once in the shortened league season in December 2021 at Sardis Road. Ponty won 31-24 thanks to 23 points from the boot of Diggy Bird and a Dale Stuckey try.

Despite defeat, Ponty will take heart from last Saturday’s performance at Llandovery which saw the team narrowly lose by a single point in rural West Wales. The Quins haven’t played since 28th January when they triumphed 38-28 away at Llanelli.
