Matchday Preview – Bridgend v Pontypridd

This Saturday 14th January Pontypridd travel to the Brewery Field to play Bridgend. The Indigo Group Premiership match kicks off at 2:30pm.

Past meetings…

Ponty’s last visit to the Brewery Field was a fruitful one. Last season on Thursday 17th March 2022 the team enjoyed a comprehensive win by 54 points to 17 in front of the S4C cameras.

This season the two clubs have already met twice on consecutive Saturdays at the start of the season, both matches played at Sardis Road. On Saturday 17th September 2022 a late, second half rally from Ponty wasn’t quite enough as Bridgend hung on for a 30-26 win in the Welsh Cup. The following weekend new signing Joseph Scrivens played a starring role on his club debut as Ponty put in a strong performance to claim a 40-8 win in the league. Dale Stuckey, Aled Ward, a penalty try and 23 points from the boot of Scrivens earned Ponty their first win of the campaign.

Aled Ward claiming a second-half try in last September’s win.

Last Saturday Ponty were defeated at home against Llandovery, conversely Bridgend will be buoyed after winning 22-14 at Carmarthen Park against the Quins.
