From Ponty to Poland for Sam Thomas

Pontypridd RFC Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach Sam Thomas has left his role with the Club to take up an exciting opportunity with the Polish National Rugby Team.

Sam has been part of Ponty’s S&C Team for the last 2 years and during that time has occupied similar roles with Ponty Schools and USW, whilst also studying at the latter.

He’s been involved in assisting the S&C Team for both Ponty’s training and match day duties, as well as return to play and GPS monitoring at the club.

As well as Pontypridd RFC, Sam has also been involved with the S&C Teams of WRU Women, SW7 Academy, University of Colorado, Malta Rugby, Cardiff City FC and PA Fitness.

In Poland, Sam will be leading the on-pitch conditioning and warm-ups for the improvement of athletic performance, whilst also assisting in match day duties during the Rugby Europe Championship.

His role also includes physical performance monitoring through GPS and wellness measures to ensure optimal training loads.

Speaking fondly on his time with Pontypridd, Sam said: “Being at Pontypridd RFC for just under 2 years has been an incredible experience, and huge for my development as a coach. I have to thank all the coaches, players, and back room staff for welcoming me into the club. I will be forever grateful. #WeArePonty.”

Pontypridd RFC would like to place on record its thanks to Sam for his efforts over the last two years, and wish him well on his new adventure with the Poland National Team.

Diolch, Sam.
