Matchday Preview – Pontypridd v Newport

Pontypridd play their first game at home for nearly six weeks this Thursday 30th March as we welcome Newport to Sardis Road. The Indigo Group Premiership match kicks off at 7:30pm and will be broadcast live on S4C Clic.

This Thursday will be the second time the two clubs have met in just five days following Newport’s Welsh Cup semi-final win on Saturday just gone. Dale Stuckey’s brace of tries were in vain as the Black & Ambers won by 26 points to 10 to progress through to the final which will take place next month.

The last time the two sides played each other at Sardis Road was on Saturday 18th September 2021 in the Welsh Premiership Cup. It was a rather poignant occasion as it was the first competitive rugby action for 18 months following the Covid-19 pandemic. Ponty won a close affair by 19 points to 16 – twelve points from the boot of Ben Burnell and a Dale Stuckey try sealed the win.
