Injury update

The recent trend amongst the Pontypridd squad has been of recovery from injury, but that trend has been bucked as scrum half Wayne Evans has suffered a serious setback.

Forced off in the away defeat at Merthyr last Saturday, scans have revealed that Wayne (pictured above) has fractured his lower left leg and could possibly be out for the remainder of the season.

Lock Josh Hawkins was also a casualty of the Merthyr clash with a suspected head injury which will require further assessment in line with medical protocol.

Still sidelined are centre Gary Williams with a persistent hamstring problem and prop Jon Elley with a back strain. Other squad members are however nearing full recovery. Full back Joseph Williams and lock Shay Smallman have both been out with fractured hands but are now on the verge of a comeback, possibly to play for their local clubs Ynysybwl and Gilfach Goch respectively.

Back in contact training are full back Lloyd Rowlands and prop Will Davies-King who should both be pushing for selection over the next week or two.
