Hailing from Blaina in the Gwent valleys, powerhouse hooker Nigel Meek came to prominence as part of the infamous Pontypool front row. His contribution was rewarded with a call-up by the Barbarians and the awarding of three senior Wales caps.
Nigel joined up with Pontypridd in 1993, going on to make 21 appearances before returning to his home territory with a move to Abertillery.
