Having come to the fore with his local club Cilfynydd, Bobby Bennett made the move to Pontypridd in 1984 to fight for a place in the back row.
Making 27 appearances in his first season with Ponty Bobby then established himself in terms of selection and went on to total 65 appearances, scoring 7 tries in his two year stay with the club.
