A product of the Celtic Warriors and Blues Academies, David Flanagan came up through the ranks with Pontypridd RFC, gaining international honours with Wales at all Youth levels and up to the under 21age grade, also captaining his country.
Playing a key role for Pontypridd as a pivotal controler in midfield, with stand-out moments such as his crucial match winning drop-goal in injury time of the 2006 Konica Minolta Cup Final, Dai Flanagan progressed from Academy status to senior registration with the Blues.
Whilst establishing himself as a regional player, Dai remained linked to his former club Pontypridd, released to play in their Premiership campaign when available.
