Welsh Cup Final Rewind
It’s now just over ten weeks since Pontypridd RFC secured Welsh Cup glory at the Principality Stadium against Cross Keys, and with it being a quiet time during the close-season we thought we’d have a look back at that historic day on Saturday 5th April 2025.
Prior to this year’s final the Valley Commandos’ last major trophy was the WRU Challenge Cup, which they lifted in 2016 after beating Bedwas 38-34 at the Brewery Field. This was the second time the club triumphed in this particular competition, this first time being a 15-10 win over Cardiff in 1998.
So, it had been nine years since a trophy lift, eleven years since Ponty’s last Welsh Cup win and eight years since an appearance in the showpiece final at the Principality Stadium – all of these statistics were reset as Pontypridd triumphed in the competition for a seventh time back in April.
You can relive the day through interviews, video clips, our match gallery and match report – enjoy…
