The Friends of Pontypridd – ‘Shielding’ The Team

The ‘Friends of Pontypridd’ are a group that have been long-standing supporters of Pontypridd RFC. They raise funds that have been used, amongst many other things, to enhance facilities at the club which includes buying equipment.

The group’s mission statement is “The Friends of Pontypridd’s aim and objective is to assist the club in all aspects of enhancing facilities and future developments at Sardis Road and are committed to playing an active role to help maintain the future of the club.” – Lyndon Crowley, the secretary of the Friends of Pontypridd.

Recently they have generously spent a significant sum of money in purchasing equipment for the Pontypridd first team squad – specifically ten tackle shields and eight tackle bags. The Pontypridd players, coaches and management would like to place on record their gratitude to the Friends of Pontypridd for this contribution to the team.

The above photo was taken before last Saturday’s match – current players showing their appreciation for the new equipment to Ponty RFC club legend Graham Gittins. Graham is also involved with the Friends of Pontypridd, anyone wishing to obtain further information on how to join the group should contact him by email at g-gittins@sky.com
