Premiership round up – 07/12/19

Cardiff pulled away an impressive thirteen points clear at the top of the Premiership courtesy of their ninth successive victory, whilst Bridgend remained rooted to the foot of the table following the round of matches played on the weekend of 7th December.

The BBC Scrum V cameras were at the Aberavon v Carmarthen Quins game on Friday evening, where the visitors continued a fine run of form with a 29pts to 34 win, both sides scoring four tries.

On Saturday, Cardiff came away from Newport with a 7pts to 24 bonus point win to consolidate their status as runaway league leaders. Reigning champions Merthyr could not improve on an interval lead against in form visitors Llanelli who ended with a narrow 20pts to 22 advantage.

Ebbw Vale also let slip a 10pts to 5 half time lead, going down to a 10pts to 13 defeat against Swansea at Eugene Cross Park. Llandovery secured an important 18pts to 8 home win over Pontypridd, whilst Bridgend continued a disappointing campaign with a 5pts to 24 home defeat against RGC.
