Premiership East round up – 25/11/17

It remains tight at the top of the Premiership East table following the round of matches played on the weekend of 25th November, with Pontypridd and Merthyr still on level pegging in pole position.

The action got underway on Friday evening with Bedwas claiming a valuable win by 32pts to 24 over Cross Keys, both teams scoring three tries apiece with the kicking of home outside half Steff Jones proving the difference.

The following day Ponty put in an uninspiring performance but registered a bonus point victory over Bargoed, who dropped to the foot of the table. Merthyr claimed a similar result, edging a 30pts to 34 win away at Newport, having trailed by 13pts to 10 at the interval.

Cardiff also came from behind to take the verdict in another close encounter, by 21pts to 23 away to Ebbw Vale.
