Premiership East round up – 01/12/17

The penultimate round of Premiership East Conference fixtures was played on Friday evening 1st December.

All three top placed teams, Merthyr, Pontypridd and Bedwas maintained their winning runs to put clear daylight between themselves and the chasing pack.

It was Merthyr who pulled clear at the top of the table as they posted an emphatic 57pts to 7 home win over Ebbw Vale. The Ironmen ran in nine tries, with winger Kyle Evans claiming four, the bonus point proving crucial in edging top spot in the league rankings.

Pontypridd claimed a hard fought 7pts to 16 away win at Cross Keys whilst Bedwas were victors by 10pts to 22 against fourth placed Cardiff at the Arms Park.

Bargoed remain rooted to the foot of the table, although level on points with Ebbw Vale, following a 17pts to 25 home defeat against Newport.
