Pontypridd v Newport – match preview

Pontypridd are back in competitive action for the first time in eighteen months as they host Newport in the newly formed Indigo Premiership Cup tournament on Saturday 18th September, the match kicking off at 2:30pm.

Newport were ironically the last team to play competitively at Sardis Road, back on 29th February 2020, when they came, saw and conquered by 12pts to 17 in the Premiership. They were also the first team to return to the same venue after all lockdowns were lifted, playing a pre-season friendly on 14th August, in which Ponty claimed victory by 17pts to 14.

With a much changed squad assembled for the new season, Pontypridd give competitive debuts to a number of players, in a team led by former Wales Sevens star Morgan Sieniawski in his new role as a centre.

Season tickets are valid for the Pontypridd v Newport match, admission prices on the gate are set at £12 (£10 concessions) for all areas of the ground with under 16s allowed in free when accompanied by a paying adult.

The gates at Sardis Road will open from 12:30pm via the main entrance end of the ground only.

Live sports broadcast in the Clubhouse bar through the afternoon will be – Wolves v Brentford Premiership football from 12:30pm, Leicester v Exeter rugby from 2:30pm and Aston Villa v Everton Premiership football from 5:30pm.
