Cardiff born James Murphy was capped by Wales at youth level, progressing to represent Bedwas in the Premiership at senior level.
The towering lock made a move back to his home city club in 2002, becoming a regular in the Cardiff side as a ball winner and a physical force in the loose.
In the summer of 2019 James Murphy joined up with Pontypridd.
