Match Preview – Swansea v Pontypridd

Pontypridd travel to St. Helen’s to play Swansea on Saturday 26th March, the Indigo Group Premiership match kicking off at 2:30pm.

Ponty’s last visit to the picturesque, famous old ground of St. Helen’s was Saturday 14th December 2019. On that occasion the home side won a tight match 26-24.

But onto the present and Ponty are currently on a 3-game winning run in the league and coming off the back of a fine 54-17 win away at Bridgend last Thursday evening. Last Friday Swansea suffered a gut-wrenching 24-17 loss at home against unbeaten Newport, the Black & Ambers scored 2 tries in injury time at the end of the match to break All-White hearts.

As can be seen from the current league standings above, Ponty occupy 7th position in an extremely congested mid-section of the table where only 5 points separate the teams in positions 3rd to 7th, and Ponty also have a game in hand over most teams above them.

Justin’s team news…

The pack remains unchanged from last week, whilst in the backline Morgan Richards returns at fullback along with Daf Buckland at scrum-half. Dai Jones returns to the bench along with a potential debut for talented winger Sam Hayman who is on permit from Pencoed RFC.
