Match Preview – Pontypridd v Swansea

This Saturday 6th May Pontypridd RFC play their final game of the 2022/23 season against Swansea RFC. The Indigo Group Premiership match between the two clubs, rescheduled from the 21st January is a 2:30pm kick-off at Sardis Road.

The sides met earlier in the season on Saturday 1st October at St. Helen’s. After an hour’s play there was nothing between them with the the score locked at 17-all. The All Whites finished the match strongly and Ponty had to settle for a four-try bonus point as consolation after falling to a 45-22 reverse. Aled Ward, Rory Harries, Niko Matawalu and a penalty-try saw the Valley Commandos leave West Wales with one league point for their efforts.

The last time the All Whites visited Sardis Road was over four years ago on Friday evening 15th February 2019. Tries from Alex Knott, Alex Webber, two penalty-tries and points from the boots of both Diggy Bird and Ben Jones saw Ponty triumph by a score-line of 31-19.

It’s been a difficult campaign for Pontypridd, but this Saturday will provide an opportunity for the team to finish the season on a high.

TEAM NEWS:

Ponty have made three personnel and two positional switches to the team that played RGC three weeks ago. Ceri Morris’ return is the sole change in the backs whilst in the forwards Chris Dicomidis and Sion Parry are drafted back into the XV for starts. The two positional switches sees Joe Miles move back to his favoured no.8 berth which allows Aled Ward to revert to blindside flanker.

Tickets – Admission on the day will be £12 full, £10 concession access-all-areas and under 16’s free if accompanied by a paying adult. Unfortunately our online E-ticketing service is not available for this match.
