Autumn Rugby Camp a great success

A hugely successful Kids Rugby Camp was held at Sardis Road during the autumn half-term break.

The camp, convened under the banner of the Pontypridd & Valleys Rugby Initiative, ran from Monday 30th October to Friday 3d November and was split into three phases catering for different age groups and skills.

250 children turned up for the event, from locations across the Rhondda, Cynon and Taf valleys, from Cardiff and the Vale.

Nominated as top trainers for the three phases were Jaedee-lee Edwards, Jacob Kyte and Thomas Edwards (pictured).

Noting the success of the camp, Ponty Rugby Commercial Manager Emma Rogers said: “Under the guidance of Justin Burnell, ably assisted by students of USW Sport, senior Pontypridd RFC players, Ben Daniels of USW and Gareth Wyatt of Coleg Y Cymoedd and Pontypridd RFC, the sessions have been an integral part of our initiative working with schools and clubs both at junior and senior level.”
Highlighting the importance of community engagement within sport she added “It is another major objective for us to deliver the initiative across the age groups and we are delighted that over 250 children have participated in our rugby camps this week.
“We would like to sincerely thank our primary partners: City West Commercials, USW Sport and Coleg y Cymoedd for their invaluable support during the week.”
