150 up for Stuckey

When Dale Stuckey ran out onto the pitch at Sardis Road for the final match of the 2021/22 season against Ebbw Vale, he brought up a personal landmark – it was the flying winger’s 150th appearance for Pontypridd RFC.

Having made his mark as a strong running back three player with local club Ynysybwl, and having in the meantime been invited to train with the Wales Sevens squad, Dale joined up with Pontypridd in the summer of 2014. He made his Ponty debut on Saturday 27th September 2014 after coming on as a substitute in the team’s 27-17 victory against Bridgend in the Welsh Premiership.

Dale soon made his mark as an exciting attacker and poacher of tries at Premiership level, and was voted as Pontypridd Player of the Year in 2018.

To date, in his 150 appearances for the club Dale has scored 85 tries and with the boot has kicked 13 conversions and 6 penalties giving him a total of 476 points for Pontypridd.

On reaching his latest milestone, Dale said: “It’s a huge honour to have made my 150th appearance, it only seems like yesterday I hit my 100th. I still have the same buzz running out to the fans at Sardis as I did the first time I pulled the shirt on. Hopefully I can get a full season in next year and push for my 200th.”

Having played with Dale and now managing him, Dan Godfrey said: “Dale has been a fantastic servant for Pontypridd. When he first turned up he was very much a project for the coaches. He was very raw but full of talent. He did his grounding at Ynysybwl which held him in a good position for when he broke into the starting 15 for us. He is a very talented footballer, who can play many positions in the side. Some of the tries he has scored have been unbelievable throughout his career. We all look forward to him running on the pitch next season.”

Here’s to many more matches and lots more tries in a Ponty shirt Dale, Ole!
