Three to go

Three to go

Three members of the Pontypridd RFC squad are departing the club this summer – Ryan Savage, Ken Knaggs and Garyn Lucas – all having made a sterling contribution to the cause over the past seasons.

Second row Ryan Savage joined up with Ponty in 2007 from his local club Mountain Ash and made his mark as a hard grafting tight forward. Work commitments and a dedication to his young family have forced Ryan to reconsider his ability to train and play, week in week out at Premiership level, and the decision has been made to retire from the semi professional game.

Prop Ken Knaggs came over to Wales from his native Kilkenny in Ireland to study at the University of Glamorgan. He soon linked up with Pontypridd and immediately became a big hit with the club’s supporters, typical of many an incomer adopted by the club community. With his term at University now over, Ken is moving on to play some summer rugby in New Zealand before returning home to the Emerald Isle.

Scum half Garyn Lucas is a product of the neighbouring Rhydyfelin club who linked up with Pontypridd, firstly on permit and then on a permanent basis. His livewire performances as a pocket dynamo behind the pack endeared him to the Ponty support.

All three have made their mark and leave Pontypridd RFC with the sincere thanks and the very best wishes of all involved with the club.
