TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT – PONTYPRIDD RFC VS BRIDGEND RAVENS RFC
This Saturday we extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Bridgend Ravens RFC. The teams have met already on one occasion this season, in the Principality Building Society Premier League, with Pontypridd RFC winning by the score line of 35-44 at the Morganstone Brewery Field on Saturday 29thSeptember 2018.
Last Saturday, Pontypridd RFC entertained Llanelli RFC in the WRU National Cup. Despite conceding the league ‘double’ in the first half of the season, a depleted but nonetheless resilient Llanelli RFC Team, upheld that famous cup pedigree and tradition by pushing us all the way to a 35-26 points victory. Bridgend Ravens RFC also progressed to the next round with a 0-21 points victory over Newbridge RFC at the Welfare Ground. Both Teams now face formidable, but not unsurmountable challenges, in the quarter-final round as they travel to the Wern and Pontypool Park respectively.
Although the Ravens will arrive at Sardis Road occupying twelfth position in the premier league table, matches between the two teams are usually such close affairs, with a difference of just one or two points being the recurrent theme, a feeler gauge rather than a scoreboard is needed to separate them! Expect Saturday be no different as each of the former warriors-in-arms strive to improve upon their current positions.
