The summer break is an opportunity for Ponty players to recover fully from their end of season injuries, but with two members of the squad requiring surgery before they can commence their rehabilitation.
Back row forward Owen Sheppeard, with knee ligament damage, and centre Dafydd Lockyer, with a long standing shoulder problem, are the players who will go under the knife early in July.
Their respective recovery periods will depend on the success of the operations, but both players likely to miss the start of the new season.
Others of the Ponty squad who missed the back end of the previous campaign through injury are making good recovery during the summer months.
Winger Owen Williams and outside half Simon Humberstone, both with knee ligament damage, and hooker Jack Dando with a dislocated shoulder, are expected to be fit and revitalised for the start of the new season.
