Steve Stewart joined Pontypridd as a second row after leaving Cardiff RFC in the early 1980s along with Tony Bartlett.
I had a great time at the club and have some superb memories of the players I played with, the coaches and most of all the supporters who always got behind the team both home and away.
One memory in particular will stay with me forever, it was a Wednesday evening match played at a packed Sardis Road against my old club Cardiff, a game that we eventually went on to win 16-9
It was the usual hard fought battle between the two teams, but in the dying stages of the game and I was fortunate enough to score what was to be the winning try against my old club.
Even though my time at Pontypridd was relatively short due to injury problems that eventually forced me back to junior club rugby at St. Peters RFC in Cardiff I still like to class myself as once being privileged and proud to have worn the Pontypridd shirt.
Steve now works as the Operations Director for Chemical Corporation in Caerphilly, and still enjoys watching Ponty play.
