STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Official Statement from Ponty Rugby Board of Directors

In the week just gone, there has been significant speculation and comments in relation to Pontypridd RFC on various social media channels. I am aware that over past few years nothing has ever been put out to quell any fears of you our superb supporters, committed shareholders, loyal sponsors and suppliers may have, nor have we previously commented on such speculation. On this occasion, the club feel it appropriate to provide an update as to the current situation.

The past few months, like the past few years, have presented some challenges off the field for Pontypridd RFC as we continue to address and adapt the commercial aspects of the club in the changing rugby environment in Wales. Adapting any business is challenging none more so than in the semi-professional rugby arena. The Board of Directors continue to face the challenges and will continue to do so for this great rugby club. At times, financial pressures arise which have to be addressed and again, Pontypridd Rugby Club will continue to work to address its financial issues.

Despite the recent speculation, we can confirm the club is not in Administration and all concerned continue to work tirelessly to create a sustainable rugby club that will be challenging for honours for many years to come. The club are proud of the many positive comments that have been made from those genuinely concerned about the current challenges and realise the true level of support out there for Pontypridd RFC.

All who are involved within the club, including our squad of players have been informed of our current challenges and as always have shown great solidarity in coming together and continue to work hard for the club. The performance last night in a super win over Neath who themselves have faced challenges in recent months shows what a great squad of committed players we have, players who wear the badge with pride and always give their best for the club.

In fairness and with respect to our Shareholders it is only right and proper that we inform them of the club’ position, so to that end, in light of the wave of criticism on social media we have called an EGM for this coming Wednesday evening 13/02/2019 at 7pm in the clubhouse.

After the EGM we will then issue a full statement to update you all.

Many thanks for your support and patience.

Roger Davies

Board Chairman
