Return of the Dukes

Friday 29th April will see the return to Pontypridd RFC of some old friends - the Dukes, the Youth & Junior Rugby Section of s-Hertogenbosch

Pontypridd holds a special place in the hearts of the townspeople of ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) as it was the 53rd Welsh Division (from the Pontypridd area) who liberated the town after a ferocious battle that ended at midday on October 27th 1944.

This is regarded as the greatest battle ever fought by soldiers of the 53rd (Welsh) Division and each year the town holds a ceremony to remember those who fought, and especially those who gave their lives to free the town from Nazi occupation.

Pontypridd Mini & Junior Rugby Section has a very close relationship with their Dutch counterparts the The Dukes, with various tours between the two club's having taken place regularly since 2005.
