Premiership round up – 02/11/19

It was déjà-vu in the Indigo Premiership during the round of games played on the weekend of 2nd November, as both Cardiff and Aberavon maintained their 100% records to top the table. The capital side extended their lead to seven points, having played one more fixture than Aberavon with the addition of three bonus points.

Results overall were low scoring and close fought with the dismal weather conditions a prevailing factor.

The action got underway on Friday night at the Arms Park where Cardiff battled to a 12pts to 3 win over Ebbw Vale, sending the Steelmen into the relegation zone.

The following day Aberavon kept in touch with the leaders, edging a 15pts to 16 win away at Pontypridd, reliant on their forward power and the boot of Aled Thomas. Merthyr made something of a comeback after a run of poor results, battling back from an interval deficit of 10pts to 7 to claim a 10pts to 17 victory at Swansea.

Carmarthen Quins recorded the biggest score-line of the weekend with their 22pts to 6 home win over RGC, whilst Newport came away from Llandovery with a creditable 3pts to 9 result in their favour.
