Premiership round up – 16/09/18

An in form Llandovery surged to the top of the Premiership table following the third round of games on the weekend of 15th September.

The match action got underway on Friday evening in front of the Scrum V cameras as Bridgend edged a 26pts to 23 home win over Swansea.

On Saturday Llandovery powered to an impressive 30pts to 52 victory at Bedwas, Drovers’ outside half Jack Maynard claiming 27 of those points with 2 tries, 7 conversions and a penalty.

Ebbw Vale maintained their early momentum, making the return long haul journey from North Wales with a 12pts to 19 win over RGC in their baggage. Pontypridd meanwhile slipped to a first defeat, by 25pts to 19 away to Aberavon, with a losing bonus point as consolation.

Cardiff registered a first success, and scored their first tries of the campaign – four in total – in a narrow 29pts to 27 win over Newport. Cross Keys were 36pts to 30 victors over Neath at Pandy Park, the Welsh All-Blacks claiming both try scoring and losing bonus points. Bargoed made life difficult for visitors Carmarthen Quins but went down to a 14pts to 19 defeat.

On Sunday afternoon Llanelli went down to a 7pts to 26 home defeat against Merthyr, leaving them pointless at the foot of the table.
