Premiership round up – 14/04/18

In the round of Premiership matches played on Saturday 14th April, Merthyr consolidated their status as league leaders with a comfortable 10pts to 45 away win at Swansea.

The chasing pack of three all enjoyed victories, but all closely contested. Carmarthen Quins just edged out Newport by 36pts to 33 with both teams equal on try count, five apiece. RGC overcame an interval deficit of 7pts to 14 against a spirited Bedwas side to win by 27pts to 21 in S4C’s live televised match.

Pontypridd left it late to overhaul hosts Aberavon and claim a 15pts to 19 victory at the Talbot Athletic Ground.

Cardiff’s dip in form continued as they went down to a comprehensive 42pts to 10 defeat at Cross Keys, whilst Llandovery posted a 26pts to 13 home win over Bridgend.

Llanelli ran in six tries as they overcame Neath by 41pts to 36 at Parc y Scarlets. The match between Bargoed and Ebbw Vale was abandoned at half time as paramedics were called to aid a supporter. The Steelmen were at the time leading, but the result null and void.
