Premiership East round up – 07/10/17

Bedwas consolidated pole position in the Premiership East table following a top versus bottom clash on Saturday 7th October.

High flying Bedwas hosted Ebbw Vale at the Bridge Fields and romped to a 54pts to 5 victory, the try tally of eight to one in their favour reflecting their form and dominance.

Pontypridd kept in touch in second place following a thrilling encounter at the Arms Park. The Valley Commandos held a precarious one point lead over Cardiff, 21pts to 22 at the interval but pulled away to win by 28pts to 46 with six tries securing an added bonus point.

Reigning champions Merthyr continued their revival with a 18pts to 45 away bonus point win at Bargoed, whilst Cross Keys suffered a 12pts to 21 home defeat against near neighbours Newport.
