Pontypridd town centre has had a good spring clean in the latest round of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s street care ‘blitzes’.
On Thursday 18th October players from our very own Pontypridd Rugby Club helped Streetcare officers and environmental teams from RCT Council tackle the issue of keeping our streets and villages clean.
Chris Dicomidis, Lawrence Price and Lee Evans attended a street cleaning blitz in the town centre where they took part in a photo shoot with a range of equipment - including chewing gum removal machines, road sweepers and graffiti removers to promote keeping the Valleys tidy. The players are enjoying working with RCT Streetcare and their mascot Rhyscycle, and are helping to spread the word on how we need to recycle and keep Wales tidy.
The street blitzes were launched three years ago as part of the campaign to make Rhondda Cynon Taf a cleaner and safer place to live, work and visit.
Gareth Howells Sales and Marketing executive commented:
We are delighted to be in a great partnership with RCT Streetcare, helping them spread the message to all our supporters on how important it is to recycle and keep our towns and villages clean. We are keen to keep working with Rhyscycle and Rhondda Cynon Taf to try and convert more people to recycling.
Over 95% of streets in Rhondda Cynon Taf are at the minimum standard of being satisfactory or above, this is despite the fact that on-road parking can prove difficult when sweeping the streets. But the continued sweeping and litter picking has led to further improvements with a higher proportion of streets being of a satisfactory level or above than ever before.
