Ponty Youth ready to battle for league and cup honours

Pontypridd Youth, who finished the previous season as regional Welsh champions, are gearing up for an exciting campaign to come with the introduction of a new league format

Pontypridd will take their place in the top regional division, proposed as the Blues Premiership, along with eleven other clubs. Teams will play each other home or away during the first half of the season before the league splits into top six and bottom six conferences.

The clubs competing the premier youth division will be: Abercynon; Aberdare; Cardiff Met; Cardiff University; Cowbridge; Merthyr; Mountain Ash; Pontypridd; Rumney; Penarth; St Peters; Treorchy.

Ponty Youth open their league campaign with a trip to newcomers Penarth on Saturday 1st September, and the following weekend will host Rumney, who just edged Ponty to the Blues A title last season.

Pontypridd will also contest the National Youth Cup with the first round scheduled for the weekend of 29th September.

Two pre-season friendly matches have so far been confirmed for Ponty Youth, both at home – against Newport HSOB on Saturday 18th August (2:30pm ko) and against Ystrad Rhondda on Saturday 25th August (5pm ko to be confirmed).
