Unbeatable - the Ponty under 9's squad

Awesome! That is probably the only word to describe the Pontypridd's under 9's squad who have remained undefeated ever since they were first formed as under 8's and have just completed their second full season without defeat.

The under 9's record for the 2005 - 2006 season (not including development games) reads as follows:-

Played:   41
Drew:   2
Won:   39

Tries for:   287

Tries Against:   17

Points For:   1435

Points Against:   85

Pontypridd under 9's have enjoyed a highly successful season, remaining unbeaten for the second successive year.

They started well in September winning the Treorchy tournament and this has been followed by recent successes in winning tournaments at Barkers Butts (Coventry), Nelson and their own Pontypridd tournament at Sardis Road. In these last three tournaments they scored a total of 91 tries whilst only conceding 2…

All the parents and coaches would once again like to congratulate and thank the players for their tremendous effort and commitment throughout the year. The team would also like to thank Steve Hughes Plumbing Ltd for sponsoring their playing kit this season.

It was acknowledged at their presentation evening on Friday 12th May that the boys remain unbeaten for the second successive season. The boys were then presented with their trophies by Neil Jenkins, Dai Flanagan, Geraint Lewis and Tom Riley.  The season ended on a high note with the boys having their photo taken with the whole Pontypridd senior team who had returned to the club after enjoying a victory over Cardiff at Taffs Well. The mini section also wish to offer a big thank you to current Wales and Lions international Martyn Williams who presented the under 10's and 11's with their trophies at short notice.
