Ponty under 7s shine in Pencoed tournament

On Sunday 20th March Pontypridd Under 7's played in a mini rugby festival at Pencoed and put in some excellent performances against very good opposition.

The day started with a superb game against the much fancied Llanishen. Both sides attacked and defended well and Ponty certainly had chances to win but an interception pass at the end of the game saw Llanishen gain a draw.

Next up was Pencoed who found it difficult to contain Ponty's speed out wide as the game ended with a 5-3 win for Ponty. The 3rd game saw Ponty up against Llandaf - who had also drawn with Llanishen. In a tense game Ponty had lots of possession and were unlucky not to score on a number of occasions in the corners. This pivital game ended 3-2 to Llandaf and they went on to remain undefeated and win the festival.

In the 4th game Ponty defeated Pentyrch 4-3 in a close and competitive encounter. Last up was a game against Bridgend Sports, by now Ponty's legs were beginning to tire and Bridgend managed a late score to bring the game back to 4 all. Well done to all the players!!
