Ponty Schools host Pontypool in Dewar Shield tie

Pontypridd Schools will play a Dewar Shield league tie against Pontypool on Wednesday 11th March, the match to be played at Sardis Road kicking off at 7pm.

The under 15s squad last saw action on 31st January, going down to a 13pts to 29 home defeat against Bridgend Schools. That result left Pontypridd fifth placed in the Dewar table, two positions ahead of their next opponents Pontypool.

Although trailing league leaders Cardiff and Bridgend by six points, Pontypridd have all to play for with a game in hand over Cardiff and two over Bridgend.

According to Ponty Schools coach Justin Burnell the home tie against Pontypool is a crucial one.

“This is quite simply a must win game for us” said Burnell. “Our aim is to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Dewar Shield but we have ground to catch up and a result against Pontypool is vital in that quest.”

Admission to the Pontypridd Schools v Pontypool Schools match will be charged at £3.
