Ponty RFC - flying the flag for Wales

Pontypridd RFC stands proudly as the only team from Wales still carrying the national flag in a cross border cup competition.

Pontypridd will contest the semi final round of the British & Irish Cup with a home tie against Bristol Rugby on Saturday 23rd April. The other semi final will be played out between two English Championship contenders – Worcester Warriors and Bedford Blues.

The role of underdog against top class, fully professional English opposition will suit Ponty well. The role of standard bearers for the nation will be one that the club, the town and the borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf can be immensely proud of.

Pontypridd v Bristol – at the uncompromising venue of the House of Pain - it will be Wales v England, David v Goliath, all that and more - for club and country!

Ponty's adopted power ballad for the BIC semi final is the aptly named 'International Velvet'.

"Every day, when I wake up, I thank the Lord I'm Welsh!"

The colour theme for Saturday's big game will be the Black & White of Pontypridd enhanced by the red white and green of Wales. Bring your flags and be vocal!
