Pontypridd have sent out an SOS recall to former player Andrew Jenkins in response to an injury crisis in the scrum half department.
Both Rhys Downes and Garyn Lucas have suffered significant leg injuries over the past two weeks, leaving the club short on cover for the no9 shirt.
Downes was a casualty in the British & Irish Cup quarter final tie away to Leinster A, suffering ankle ligament damage which will keep him sidelined for another month. Lucas then hobbled out of the SWALEC Cup tie away to Llandovery with knee ligament damage which will require further scans, and maybe an operation to put right.
Andrew Jenkins, or “Shenko” as he was more commonly known at Sardis Road, served Pontypridd well between 2007 and 2009 before departing for spells with Ebbw Vale and Aberavon.
Currently playing for Whitland in Division One West, Jenkins has now been drafted back on permit for Ponty as temporary scrum half cover.
