Towards the end of April, the Pontypridd RFC mini and junior section, and indeed the club as a whole, will welcome a tour party from Holland, representing the Dukes Rugby Club of Hertogenbosch.

The weekend tour will involve a trip to see the Ponty senior side in action, games against the Ponty minis and juniors at various age levels, and a visit to the new war memorial on Pontypridd Common.

The tour party is expected to arrive on Friday evening 28th April, and will be hosted for the weekend by local families. At 12 noon on the following Saturday, a wreath laying ceremony will take place at the war memorial, with the mayors of Pontypridd and Rhondda Cynon Taf in attendance, to commemorate the soldiers of the Royal Regiment of Wales who fell during the liberation of Hertogenbosch in World war Two.

Onwards then to the Ely Memorial Ground in Cardiff, where the Dutch visitors will watch the premiership game between Glamorgan Wanderers and Pontypridd. It is hoped that the weekend weather will be favourable, as a barbeque has then been arranged back at the Ponty clubhouse.

On Sunday 30th April, games will be played between the Dukes and Pontypridd at under 16s and 14s/15s, at the Cilfynydd RFC grounds, kicking off at 10 am. At 10:30 a mini rugby tournament will commence at Sardis Road, with the Dukes minis taking part. Following the presentation of medals, due at about 4:30 pm, another barbeque and party will be held at the club.

The Ponty mini and junior section have worked extremely hard to set up the itinerary for the Dutch tour, which should prove to be very well supported, and hopefully a great success.
