For the second successive season, Pontypridd centre Dafydd Lockyer has been voted as Principality Premiership Player of the Year.
The powerhouse midfielder has again impressed as a key member of Ponty’s championship winning team, and was earlier in the season also nominated as Welsh Rugby Writers’ Player of the Year.
Pontypridd coach Dale McIntosh was amongst the nominations for Coach of the Year in the Principality Premiership Awards dinner held in the Millennium Stadium on Wednesday night 30th May, but pipped for the honour by Cross Keys coach Greg Woods.
Another deserved accolade came the way of Pontypridd RFC as club historian and statistician Richard Evans was given the popular vote as “Unsung Hero” of the year. The nomination was made on the Principality Building Society Facebook page, with the awesome ‘Ponty Statto’ receiving a large majority of the votes.
The Awards Dinner was a celebration of what had been a very competitive season in the Premiership, and was attended by representatives from all participating clubs and officials of the WRU and sponsors.
